No name 1A Story by gottenbetterA little girl opened her purse and peered inside. She threw aside the papers with the green A’s and black B’s. She tossed away the wooden bridges she scribbled on with black magic marker, but kept the uglier ones by her side. She ruffled through her plastic pearl necklaces, her cat-lens glasses without the lens, pictures that she had taken of herself, old stories and new hopes. She tore through maps and dolls, but paused when she got close to the bottom of her purse. She only glanced at the cocoon before a butterfly flew into her face, and away from her, away from her pocketbooks, her stories, her bridges, glasses and necklaces. Away from her maps and dolls and hopes. The little girl watched at the butterfly glided over to and perched on another little girl’s shoulders. She turned her attention back to her purse, only to find that there was nothing left. The little girl sat down, looked at her possessions, and wondered what she could possibly do with them that she hadn’t already done millions of times before. © 2010 gottenbetterReviews
