the pool/a pearl

the pool/a pearl

A Poem by lum
"

something personal again

"
Late noon, calypso water
We stayed in the pool
I went under and you did as well
We meet at the bottom and find a pearl
We stayed in the pool
Night passed and Day passed and Autumn passed and Spring came
And we stayed in the water until June
By the time we were out the grass had grown again and the rocks gave off heat waves
The sand burnt our souls
So we stumbled to your car and drank the last of your vodka
You are further up the hill
I can see the shine of your eyes and the glimpse of teeth in your smile
I grasp the pearl
It's so warm in my palms

I really like this poem. I feel like the pearl represents love and it can be warm when you hold it, but you may have to go down to reach it. While you love, you might be distracted and miss the changing seasons or events in your life that might be just as beautiful as this one love.
