the pool/a pearlA Poem by lumsomething personal again
Late noon, calypso water
We stayed in the pool I went under and you did as well We meet at the bottom and find a pearl We stayed in the pool Night passed and Day passed and Autumn passed and Spring came And we stayed in the water until June By the time we were out the grass had grown again and the rocks gave off heat waves The sand burnt our souls So we stumbled to your car and drank the last of your vodka You are further up the hill I can see the shine of your eyes and the glimpse of teeth in your smile I grasp the pearl It's so warm in my palms © 2020 lumFeatured Review
