Nostalgia

Nostalgia

A Poem by Sonus de Animus

Do you remember the sunshine?
The breeze gently caressing your face
The laughter and noise of days gone by
The possibilities now erased?

Do you ever look back to that day?
The day everything was true
The day that seemed it could never end
And the sky; endless and blue?

I go back to that day all the time
Every second when I close my eyes
My soul fills with yearning and longs for what was
The days when the sun still would rise

Those days sustain me in the darkest of times
Yet serve as a reminder of the pain
How simple things were, I curse myself now
I shan't get those hours again

How easy it is to hate others
For others retaliate to spite
But to hate oneself, when one knows oneself
To agree with oneself that they're right

And to feel that existence is worthless
And to live off of bitterness and hate
To live in agony and to loathe oneself
So I often return to that one treasured date

The day when the sky can't shine brighter
When possibilities are limitless
How I often return to that memory
For reminiscing is my bliss

Author's Note

Sonus de Animus
I am a philosophical person by nature. This poem is less of a poem than a musing, a rambling, and the language is far from my best.
