Life Is a Journey

This is a poem which brings in reality of life and our constant clash with time, speed, choices and the uncertain end

LIFE IS A JOURNEY

Life is a journey on a one-way street,
Make the most of the moments that fleet

Speed is of essence, at what speed do you speed?
Not so fast that signboards you do not read,
Not so slow that you are left behind indeed,
To speed or not to speed, to follow or to lead.

Time is of essence, how do you time the time?
Is it too short, that you miss the sublime,
Is it too long, that you catch the dirt and grime,
How much time you have, only time can time.

Course is of essence, can you course your course?
Course of choice, course by force,
Course of honour or course of remorse,
Can you correct the course? Or go off the course.

End is of essence, an end you cannot end?
Where is the chequered flag and where is the bend?
You cannot mend, the past - the history,
You cannot predict, the future - the mystery,

Life is a journey on a one-way street,
Savour today, it will never repeat.
