Cherish the moment

Entering ‘Writers Club’

Read a poem, ‘Love’

Author, a friend of mine

 

Greatly impressed

Read many more

Poems, stories

Writers of all kinds

 

Hesitantly I stayed on

Scribbling, expressing

Thanks for all my friends

Their encouraging reviews

 

 I had my idol, poet

A great one, “Karen”

His writings, I adored

Dreamt, being like him

 

Of late, I notice

Writers are restless

Hurrying, to catch up

Reaching some peaks!

 

A rat race like, writings

When flowing machine like

To get those medals

Be on top, the chosen ones

 

Something went wrong

I saw my idol’s ugly face

Naked n unmasked

He had shot out message

 

“…They just want to post

A half a*s poem

And have other half

A*s poets complement them on…”

 

It was crude n rude shock

Watching my idol shattered

How could I have misjudged!

Him being wise, who isn’t even human!

 

Ugly types are typical

Some pretend sophisticated

Others crude, present as they are

He was crude, to the core

Hissing like snake

Spitting venom all over

Showing visual signs of

Intellectual arrogance

 

Survival of fittest

 That’s law of jungle

Don’t nudge n bully

Humans all we are

 

Blessed you are

Don’t be petty

Don’t fritter away

Life is too precious

Yes, I agree. I had some ugly comments made on my work. But I have twice that many in good reviews...just take the bad with the good. Can't please everyone. Some are jealous and some just plain mean, but don't let it get you down. For one I like your work and I know there are others that feel the same.

Interesting. I like how you characterize your idols, and make convert them into a snake. It really personalizes the people who are the ugly, or those who abuse the power given to them to create something beautiful and yet use it to poison those who read their work. Thanks for the request and good luck getting all your work back up...

i see the message of course, but there is a more hidden one in here. i can feel the cold sting in living in anothers shadow and liking it there a little bit. the comfort of having someone to model yourself after, the love you can feel for a person by letting their work touch you. it is a shock when that is shattered, and leaves you naked. but the worst and best part is knowing you were standing on your own all along, and that shadow existed only in your own perspective. look at it as a blessing, my dear. a chance to grow beyond your expectations. your idol has not disappointed you, but freed you from a binding perspective of who you are.

You are so right... some people think they are above others and there is nothing uglier in a person then one with an ego... I have seen many myself and try to stay clear of them... great poetic rant.

i really like "crude n rude". that made me smile.

i think we are all ugly at times. it's hard not to become jaded by art that is steeped too long in the same venue. i've seen in in coffeehouses where week after week poets either perfect the same poem till their performance is plastic perfection... or where they write just for the compliments or because they are afraid people will judge them if they don't come out with new pieces all the time.
