All want to be happy

Of course, at all times

Happiness a birth right

Yet, all far from it!

 

Starting day at school

Unhappy child

Crying amongst unknowns

Missing love, hurt most

 

Soon friends made

Child giggle inside

Eagerly wait

School open again

 

Love thrills adults

Hand in hand, gentle kiss

Restless for more

Memories linger

 

Marriage can’t wait

A child come soon

Make all smiles

Connecting hearts

 

More money, new car

Bigger home, world travel

Reaching mountains peaks

Vain searches for happiness

 

You may have all

The riches of the world

Many with you loving

Yet remain miserable

 

A win make you happy

Leaves you happier

Making others win

 “Happiness is a state of mind”

 

Small ‘i’ the self ID Ego

Desire, pride, anger, delusion,

Greed, jealousy, lust and hatred

Act as obstacles to tranquility

 

 

Ego separates individuals 

Happier you are sharing

You are not alone

But part of totality

 

Happiness and sadness

Are sides of same coin

In life’s voyage the path

Individual connecting unity

Are sides of same coin ... well writ in pith this duality we're with!

It is an amazing piece, so much there to mesmerize ... the penultimate stanza stands out for me though:
"Ego separates individuals
Happier you are sharing
You are not alone
But part of totality."

Is there a deliberate meter here. I'm not familiar with it if so...

I agree that happiness is a birth right. Unfortunately, so is pain and tragedy. Live long enough, and you will experience both, no matter who you are. The rest is just degrees.
