Why don’t they hear!

Day in and out

Very often we communicate

Express our thoughts

That occur now or of past

An idea that flash our mind

May be share some feelings

Like to impress our best

 What we intend say

They all understand

What the words mean

Not always intentions behind

Failing the very purpose of it

Is it likely!

They don’t want to hear

Hear what they want to

Hear all and understand none

Communication isn’t easy

Requires least two minds

Minds are monkeys like

Always oscillating, jumping

Rules are many, one such

“Give every man thine ear

But few they voice” Shakespeare

Experts willing to train all

Making communication effective

Yet why don’t they hear!

It’s just the human nature

The way we are, love all hear us

Yet no patience hearing others

Make us to communicate

Not with others as much

But with our own selves

A way to see oneself

Hearing and listening are two totally different things.
I strive to be a great listener, and if I were to get tripped up on the excess words, I will ask for clarification....
this issue is needed to be raised....maybe there should be a paper on the art of conversation...you know...the conversation techniques we are taught in grade school...

Is it likely!
They don't want to hear
Hear what they want to
Hear all and understand none

Yes I think it is very likely~They just hear what they
want to hear~and I also think it's a time/patience thing
where everyone is in a hurry and simply do not pay attention
to what is being said~Great WritE!~Fran Marie

I agree with bright eyes...only the term I like use is selective hearing. This is a nice piece and is a problem many have stumbled upon from time to time. Thank you for sharing.

many times people hear what they want...or simply hear a different meaning to words spoken...making miscommunication rampant among all of us...which leads to misunderstanding...hurt and hate. a creative approach that addresses the need for us all to communicate more effective...thereby avoiding all that hurt.

Do they all understand what the words mean? Or do they read only what they want to hear? Interesting questions raised here. Ken.

Listening is indeed a dying art. So often people tune out the meaning and hear only the sounds. Good poem. Lydia

I agree that we have ears, we hear, but largely we don't listen. Listen with the thought and interest of helping and understanding another. Very well written.
