Sing me to Sleep

*sigh*

Tonight I sing myself to sleep.

Just like I did last night.

And the night before that.

Where did you go?

You ran.

Like the others.

You promised a change,

Promised you were different.

I knew you weren't,

But I wanted to believe you so bad.

For a moment I almost did.

It felt good.

But only for a moment.

And then the moment passed.

Now to wait for my next moment.

Because lord knows I never learn.

I lay here thinking of you.

Trying to think of anything else.

But you're stuck here in my head for a while.

Until I can find someone else to think of.

And while I think only of you,

I sing myself to sleep.

Singing my own lullaby.
