Our Worth

Our Worth

A Poem by IanCJ
"

I'm constantly wondering if we're worthy of each other in our relationship.

"

Am I worthwhile?

Am I worth the repetition?

Am I worth the lack of progress?

Tell me,

Am I worth the blood and tears

That gets us nowhere?

Are you worthwhile?

Are you worth the shreds of muscles that will litter the floor?

Are you worth the pounding in my head?

Tell me,

Are you worth all the broken pieces,

The scraps of bloody tape,

And the shards of glass?

Is the mess worthwhile?

Is it worth it to sweep up my case?

Is it worth it to mop up my blood?

Tell me,

Is it worth it to love me?

Ignore the repetition, that was most definitely intentional. Just mentioning it because I know some people don't like repetitive poems (and that's okay).

If people don't like repetitive poems, they should still be open to seeing the beauty in why you elected to be repetitive. I, personally, enjoyed the emphasis in repetition greatly.
