Depression

Depression

A Poem by Isabelle Faye
"

This poem was inspired a bit by "The Eagle" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I wanted to work with communicating a lot while saying very little.

"
A deep pit in which to fall,
A hole you can't climb out of
though your hands scrabble for purchase,
reaching, reaching up to the sky
but oozing black fingers of despair
clutch at you,
dragging you down into their deep, dark abyss.

So, do you like it? Did I reach my goal? Are any lines weak?

Yes, you reached your goal easily. It is open enough that it can be changed to fit each individual, but detailed enough to portray feeling.

I think you captured depression wonderfully, although depression is not wonderful
