I've been thinking about Echo's tragic story for some time. Thank you Jacob for the inspiration.

Shall you not remember

the beauty of thine voice

Retelling one's thought
and yours fade away

Seeking unfulfilled love

that was doomed to bloom

An endless wait for tomorrow

but tomorrow never came

Poor Echo, lover of the void
when is it time to let go?

A love that never blossomed……trying so hard to halt the doom….but love has a way of serving its own purpose…. And sometimes it fades.the like the clouds separating in the sky…….and then it may be time to let go.

I love reading poems that inspire other poets, so it was fun to follow your trail with Jacob on this one. Having grown up with a severely narcissistic father (when you use your own toddler-age children to satisfy your sexual urges, to me, that's the height of demanding one's own reflection from others), your poem reminds me of how difficult it was & how many years it took for me to STOP being his mirror, in so many ways beyond the sexual abuse, long after it ended, but his pervasiveness was insinuated into every aspect of my thinking, like I was brainwashed to be his slave. Your poem is very sympathetic to those who continue to allow themselves to be abused (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love them too they are kind of cradle of human civilization. They are full of passion and wisdom and also malice and cruelty. I always feel so sorry for Prometheus and his livers.
