My Moon, My Stars

My Moon, My Stars

A Poem by Chestnut W.
"

I suppose it's cloudy tonight, and you will be back again

"

There’s light coming from a far off distance

I continue walking, the light illuminates my surroundings

more and more

I speed up, then I stop

I look up

where did you go?

I swear you were right here only minutes ago

the time that it took me

to walk from A to B…

did it take me too long?

I crouch, stare at the ground

I get back up

I can see you reflected faintly in the rocks beneath my feet

Yesterday’s rain teasing me with these images

but you’re still not here

"""""

Looking around, I can see the light is back

like a soft mist touching the leaves of trees

it’s so light, airy

there is no substance

there is no warmth

It’s cold

I am not afraid, but I know that I’m alone

I look up again

and this time around, too

you do not linger

Where did you go?
