Chapter 6A Chapter by MusicandWritingFanIris finds the amulet and discovers that it is her Aunt's making her wonder why she had it.
"Aunt, is this yours?" I picked up an amulet from the floor. Turning it around I realized that it looked just like the one Mrs. Kipling was describing to me.
"Oh you found it! I have been looking all over for it!" My Aunt recognized, she hugged me, "Thanks for finding it." Then she looked at me, "I thought you were going to be home late?" I went straight to the fridge and grabbed a soda, "no I decided to get home early, tell me Aunt, this amulet you have looks so familiar just like the amulet called: The Tree of Life. Celisse's Mom told me about it, and she also told me that it's the only amulet that can take me to Faeridom." "Honey that amulet might look like the one Celisse's Mom told you about, but this one's a fake, it is not the real true amulet." Her Aunt explained patiently. "How do you know it's not real, if it looks exactly like the one Celisse showed me?" I held the amulet, shining gold and bright. She could see her Aunt's patience turning to impatience as she saw the amulet turn ruby red. "Iris give me that amulet, NOW!" Anger welling inside me; "You lied to me!" I stared at my Aunt realizing that she had never meant to help me, she knows what that amulet is. She just wants it so she can sell it and earn enough money for herself to buy some drugs." She stared at her Aunt with her eyes wide open. "This amulet is real! Celisse's Mom is right. I am a fairy! And this amulet is real!" Iris showed her Aunt the amulet, holding it tighter with both her hands. "See there's light which can only mean that it is real. Celisse was right, it responds to any touch by any fairy human hand." Without any warning her Aunt jumped up to Iris trying with all her might to snatch the amulet away from her, her face menacing and evil, a face Iris has never seen in her Aunt before. Iris struggling to keep it away from her, they were both on the floor fighting like cats for the amulet as if it was a ball of yarn. When Iris felt one of her Aunt's hands almost take the amulet, all she did was look with her eyes at the amulet reach for her hands and quickly tranfer it to one of her pockets and replace the amulet her Aunt was going to touch with something slimy and red. Upon her Aunt feeling this slimy thing in her hands, backed away from Iris instantly with surprised horror in her face. "Where is the AMULET!!? You filthy human fairy!!" She screamed, "I need it NOW!!!!" She searched her with madness as if she was a police officer checking a thief. Iris at this time had by using her secret magic fairy gifts, had made the amulet invisible. Her Aunt yelling all over her while at the same time searching all over the living room, the floor, and anywhere else that could be hidden. Iris kept on looking at her Aunt, and thinking all these years of her struggle to fight her addiction to smoking, she had improved and was doing great taking drug counseling classes, and finding ways to control her addiction but ever since last December when her Dad and her lost their jobs, all this pressure to find another job and pay all the bills has put a heavy weight on both of them but especially on her Aunt who has once again turned to smoking as a source of comfort. Iris just could not believe it, doesn't she see that she is only hurting herself more! Iris thought with complete horror on her face mixed with anger. "I WILL NEVER GIVE IT TO YOU!!" I almost started crying not with sadness but with anger. "GIVE IT FAIRY B***H!! You think you are so perfect now just because you have powers now and you're so beautiful!!!" Right away her Aunt grabbed her tightly pulling her arms trying to take the amulet away from her in the process, Iris felt a strong scratch in one of her arms. She struggled on for dear life to break free away from her without hurting her. "I am sorry Aunt but I never will." Iris quickly told her running towards the door once more. Little did she know that she was not going to come back home. Iris realized that she was not safe at home anymore, at least not with her Aunt there; she sensed a dark presence in her, a presence that was not present in her Aunt before until now. Celisse and her Mom looked at the amulet then back at Iris with utter disbelief and amazement. "This is unbelievable, in a good way. This amulet has been on search by many human fairy explorers, even the Fairy Queen who gave your Mother that horrible curse, had once set her eyes on finding this rare amulet but has had no luck finding it." Iris, Celisse, and Mrs. Kipling (Celisse's Mom) were outside the front porch admiring not the great clear night sky and it's stars adorning the night sky; but at the amulet which was back to it's shining gold light as Iris was holding it. Celisse and her Mom as they mentioned to her earlier, were not allowed to touch it for it's shiny gold light and powers would disappear completely if a non-human fairy touched it. "Are you sincerely sure you want to do this? Because if you do, it's traveling power will not let you come back to Earth until the seven years are over." Mrs. Kipling looked at Iris with sureness and trust while her best friend was smiling still with surprise but at the same time with sadness at seeing her friend go. Iris could sense Celisse's sadness but she knew she had to go away from Earth and into her own world, to Faeridom were she truly belongs, the only world were she can find her Mother. "I am not planning on coming back, I want to stay there permanently for as long as possible." Iris looked up at the sky determined because she had a plan now, scared because she did not know if it was going to work out but it was worth the try. © 2014 MusicandWritingFan |
