Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A Chapter by MusicandWritingFan
"

Iris finally after waiting for two years is finally going to find out the truth from her parents on her 18th birthday.

"
I put on my best dress and decided to leave my curly hair down at least for once in my life, which looking at myself in the mirror made me look younger but I wasn't going to school today.

I met both my parents who were already in the kitchen eating breakfast.

"Whoa! You guys today is my birthday, you could of waited for me." I announced to them surprised.

My parents looked at each other guiltily. "We're sorry honey but we were really hungry after we had woken up." My Mom got up from her chair to serve me.

"So today is my 18th birthday Mom, Dad! You told me two years ago that you would tell me the secret once I turned 18, so it's time, I can't wait any longer I want to know the secret now." I asked them with as much earnest and confidence as possible, trying to sound grown-up.

"We know we promised that we were going to tell you and we will but it's not easy because we don't know how you'll take it." I knew my Mom sounded worried.

"Mom please just say it, we'll see how it goes, I'm strong, I can take it." I put my arms up like a champion.

"Are you prepared for the worst Jerry?" My Mom warned him. "Honey just tell her, you're making this ridiculous." I could hear my Dad whispering to her.

"Okay here it goes; Iris you are not really human, you're a half-human and half-fairy. There I've said it."

"What?! I don't get it? You must be joking!"  got up from my chair completely confused and totally freaked out of my mind. I pointed at them both, completely shocked. "You two must be going crazy! Me not human!" I let showed them touching myself, showing them the proof, "See I am a human of skin and bones! Plus fairies don't exist in the real world!"

I stormed out of the kitchen into the comfort of my own room, I could feel my parents wanting to explain to me and for me to calm down but I was so freaked out that I just wanted to leave.

I slammed my room door as loud as possible so that they would know I wanted to be alone for a while or maybe more. I laid on my bed thinking on what my Mom had just told me. So that was the secret they've been hiding from me for all these years. But still me, being half-human and half-fairy it's just totally impossible. fairies only exist in fairy-tales, fantasy novels, movies or cartoons how is it possible that they can exist for real?

My mind went back and forth thinking, making me tired that I drifted off into a deep sleep.

"Iris you're the chosen fairy, we need you! We need you! It's important! Faeridom is in grave danger. Iris! Iris!, Iris!"

I suddenly woke up quickly; gasping for breath breathing fast and sweating like crazy. I got up from my bed like a bullet straight to my bathroom, thinking at the same time good thing there's a bathroom next to my own room. I looked in the mirror to find out my face sweaty as ever, I splashed water on my face to take the sweat off then dried completely off with a towel. 'What was that?' I asked myself still looking at myself in the mirror. Suddenly I noticed something different that was not in my face before, my eyes instead of the normal blue color they were green, a green color I've only seen in art paintings but not in any person's eyes, my lips were really red which freaked me out since I don't put red lipstick on my lips; I touched my cheeks which were pink like if I had put blush eventhough I didn't have make-up on. I tried taking the red color covering my lips and the pinkness from my cheeks but after a while realized shockingly that it was permanent.

I ran downstairs quickly frustrated and scared at the same time finding my parents in the living room hugging each other.

"What is this?!" I asked them still freaked out. I pointed my face at them. "Can please someone explain to me why my face is like this?!"

"You are 18, your fairy features are developing and showing up now as well as your powers, and no matter what you do they will never go away they will stay with you forever." My Mom explained to me trying to calm me. "Iris you are a fairy."

I raised my arms in disbelief, "Again, here we go again. I am not a fairy! Fairies don't exist!" I yelled at my Mom in utter disbelief.

"They do exist Iris, you're own biological Mother is one!"

"What? So you mean to tell me that you are not my Mom?!!" I raged in anger. "Where is she? For how long have I not seen her?!" I was about to leave as I always do but my Dad stopped me before I could take the first step to my room. He came close to calm me forcing me to sit down. "Iris you have to listen to her, she's your Aunt, my wife's sister."

I couldn't believe it! And to think that I had a perfect family but it turns out that my family is full of secrets and surprises just like other families, I guess.

"Great just great first I find out I am not human but a fairy, then now I find out that I never got to see my biological Mother, since when?"

"Since you were born, Iris. A curse was put on your mother by one of the fairy witches when she was an infant in order to save her parents from being executed by the Queen of Faeridom. That is why your Mom was prohibited from seeing you once you were born, you were only human when you were born and she was a fairy human; one look at you and the curse would of unleashed the darkness and malice of it and your Mother would of died to ashes."

Hearing my Aunt telling me all of this somehow made it all real to me now, eventhough I still struggled in accepting the truth of me being a fairy human.

Unbelievable, impossible, and scary but true.

Third to last paragraph a line needs to be reworked. Otherwise, it's really good. Look at the line, "Your mother was put on a curse by one of the fairy witches...." This is poor grammer and just doesn't sound right. Should be..."Your mother was cursed by one of the fairy witches....or A curse was put on your mother by one of the fairy witches....etc. Hope this helps! Otherwise, it sounds good.
