Sitting in silence connected by thought

as they sat and gazed at the sky

There in that field unexpectedly taught

the lessons on how to get by

Blue turned to red and stars would appear

shared stories that never were told

their thoughts high above in the atmosphere

a friendship began to unfold

Now she sits in her room wanting to cry

for life will not always be fair

But she thinks to the days of the field and the sky

and knows he will always be there

Alone in the dark his heart will divide

his stomach all twisted and curled

One day he knows she will be by his side

both ready to take on the world

Years later they sit, both looking above

their sorrows forgotten and healed

Back in the place where the two fell in love

Under the stars in that field
