Chapter 3 - Into the Night

All the group’s members drank and smoked, laughed and talked, even though they should‘ve kept their heads clear and tone down. They still had fun talking about the pass times and dreams that would happen in the future! Finally the time came and all of them left silently the cellar. They walked their way up, went up the ladder.

When the whole gang stepped out person by person Luigi got nervous growl in his stomach. Peach stepped out after Mario and she left her dark long coat’s collar and looked around in the dark. Mario put on his black Cashmere jacket, same as Luigi had, but darker. They were known for dressing up in the same way. Luigi placed a black fedora on his head in the most comfortable position and kept the door open for other people.

Birdo stepped out and lifted her scarf on her mouth to try to hide herself, but her big pipe-like mouth was hard to cover without her being recognized. She nodded to Luigi as “thank you” and stepped outside. Birdo was followed by rest of the crew; Diddy, Donkey, Daisy, Tiny Kong, Dixie Kong. Now all of them were headed to the Junk Spot where all the rubbish was taken. It was the best place to get weapons because guards usually didn’t approach the Junk Spot with pleasure.

As the group got closer to the Spot, the horrible rotten smell mixed with whatever there lied among the useless bits of leftovers. The garbage mountains made the place pretty depressing though. Many of the rubbish were taken with boats to another island, Luigi guessed to somewhere where were lava to burn the garbage out of sight. The chemical smoke coming out from the garbage destroyed the world and would slowly kill the whole earth, but maybe earth needed a break from its controllers, Luigi thought to himself while he moved with others.

Now the sleepy ocean could’ve been heard. It quietly hit the sides of the dock and somehow Luigi connected the rustle of the moving sea to radio “snow” that could be heard from the channels that wouldn’t work. It brought calm, but somehow threatened feeling to Luigi and he moved closer to his brother Mario.

The dock was faintly illuminated and it gave more space to the star sky on the gloomy enormous canvas. The docks kept going to deep deep water and there was one huge ship that usually took food from place to another. There was lot of smaller ships that took the garbage with them and then there were few very little ships that just were there to have fun with. Even the ocean was limited and it was limited all the way to the floor of the ocean.

The group walked to dock named 2B and kept going. Now there was something climbing over the wall far away. Luigi gently pushed Mario and he gave glance to Luigi. “There the food comes”, Mario nodded and he took two boats that had paddles because motors would make too much noise. Peach and Mario sat to the other boat and Daisy and Luigi to the other.

Finally they got to the wall and familiar voice asked quietly as it possibly would’ve got “Where were you? I was waiting here the whole damn time!” blue anthropomorphic hedgehog grinned in the moonlight. His body was more of human’s than animals. He had strong legs covered in blue soft fur and his body was slim and almost like made for moving quickly. He wore grey baja joe hoodie and blue jeans. His green eyes oozed sparking energy and he always gave a stare that felt like it went through the person he was looking like a flash of lighting!

“’Ey old friend, I am here now! You got the food?” Mario smirked. “Yeah I sure do! ‘Ey Tails! Bring ‘em foods!” Sonic peeked over the fence that kept people on the wall safe. Tails was tying rope around wooden heavy looking boxes. The boxes had stickers that said ‘Spice food " handle with care!’ “Hey you lazy crew cut! You have to do something too! Pull these boxes up, but carefully! They have spicy food inside them”, Tails grinned and Sonic nodded to him. Tails threw the rope up to Sonic and he caught it and started pulling the box up. Suddenly he realized there were more boxes than just one. “He-hey Mario, would you give ya old pal a hand?” “Sure”, Mario grabbed the rope with his both hands and started pulling too.

Luigi had to help Mario and Sonic too and after while they had gotten all the six heavy wooden boxes up to the wall. Tails flew on the wall with his tail propellers and landed quietly on the stone floor and looked at all three men on the wall. Tail stood there bravely, even though he felt a little shy among these people, even though they had known for really long time, but this wall and takeover had given distance to their friendship and this time was not the safest to meet. Tails had brown bomber jacket with white ‘Tails’ and red plane on blue globe patch on his jacket. Also he had red baggy pants, that big black belt hold on his hips. He had red used sneakers that had tiny golden metal pieces on the front.

“I know this is the wrong time to open my mouth but how are ya doing?” Mario smiled to Sonic and Tails. “Oh… well we’ve been missing and worried about you all here. Even Elise is worried. This has been going on for long, but taking now the action so strongly by war doesn’t sound good. I want to give my all to help you, but killing some of these people… I mean you know these people are going to die? At least many of them. They all cannot be saved”, Sonic looked now more serious and looked Mario into his blue eyes that had lost their bright shine over these six dark years. 

“I know, I know. I am sad because of it, but I see that as the only way. We have to fight. Some die, hopefully not many, and the rest survives”, Mario’s face darkened. Sonic looked at Mario and just from the way he looked at Mario it could’ve been told that his thoughts were confused, processing and jumping around. 

“W-we have asked help from the ponies. It was awesome but sad to leave huge amounts of fruit food and other healthy foods to the tree of life. I know it’s kind of ironic to ask help from them to war were people die and we are giving gifts to the tree of LIFE”, Tails smiled for a while, but realized how horrible joke he had made and he stopped smiling. Mario looked at this serious fox and he burst into laugh. 

“My God Miles! You just keep being the genius you are!” he laughed and hit Tails’s back. Tails smiled awkwardly and nodded. 

“Tha-thank you”, he laughed a little.

“Hey you nitwits! Bring the food now and let’s get the heck out! We will get caught if you dumbasses hang out there!” Daisy’s voice came from down from the boat. Mario chuckled: “Alright, hang on a little. We haven’t seen my friend is in six damn years!”
