Step One

Step One

A Chapter by Marc

The person you become when your life is swallowed by self hatred could be the person that ultimately ends it. That, I learned, is step one to accepting yourself.

Whether your lesbian, gay, trans, pan, bi or hell just curious! The person holding that gun to your head isn't you. It's your best friend who told your secret, your family who call you a sinner, the bully who makes everyone alienate you, all united into this one "to be" murderer that only can be stopped...by you.

That's step one. You can't accept yourself if you've ended yourself. So put the damn gun down, whether that gun is depression, self harm, or an actual gun. I only was able to do that by finding that one friend that no matter what, stood by me and accepted me even before I did. That's how my story story starts. That's how how I ended my homophobia towards myself and didn't end up bleeding out in the kitchen with a knife in my lifeless hand.

This is what I want to have the prologue for the book I'm writing to be, what do you think? Please leave any (helpful if ya don't mind) criticism you have about it :)
