Old FolksA Chapter by Miss Sally SunshineI was "escorted" up from the dungeon.
We passed through door after door. This place never seemed to end!
Once, I caught a glimps of myself in a mirror, and I gasped. I looked like a medieval princess!
My dark hair was curled and part of it was piled on the top of my head, but by the back of my head. Diamonds where clipped, braided, and stuck into my curls.
And I had assumed right on my make-up as well. I had a blush dusted over my cheeks giving them a little pink tint. The rest of my face was pale so my eyes, which were done up with a thick smokey eye, popped. A stark contrast. My lips also looked dark compared to my face. I was wearing a deep crimson lipstick, just like my dress.
I almost stumbled, not sure if the princes in the mirror was really me. The man righted me, and we continued to the "grand room".
It was quite amazing though. The ground was black and white checkes, like on a chess board. The walls were thick and were made out of stone, and there were tapystries and stained glass windows, all depicting some kind of apocolyps. Jewels where thrown all over the ground, carelessly, like they didn't even matter. I guess that explains why I was wearing so many jewels.
The "grand room" was no exception. It had extremely high ceilings, mounds of jewels shoved slapdash around the room, and stained glass windows letting in purple, blue, green, and rose colored light beams. There was intricate white detailing everywhere. On the floor, the walls, even the four thrones that were sitting at the end of the room.
Only two of the thrones were taken, though. One by a man who looked like a king, and the other by a woman who looked like a queen.
"Many thanks, Demetry, for bring our guest to our court." The king called to the man with my arm, Demerty.
That's when I recognized the king. It was the same man who ripped my form the tree at Seth's house!
When I thought of Seth, a stab of pain flashed through my heart. "Seth." I whispered to myself.
Demerty dropped my arm, and backed up until he was a few feet behind me.
"Welcome, child." The king called to me.
"I am no child." I spat back with venom.
"Of course not," thje queen said with a chuckle, "you're a fine young maiden."
They talked weird here, like back in time. That side tracked me, where was "here"?
"You must be questioning why you were summoned to my castle." The king said.
I decided to play along and speak like them. "Well, my good king, I have indeed been questioning that. What would you need with a lowly maid like myself?"
The king threw back his head and laughed. "A lowly maid? You are no lowly maid, gentle maiden! You are the key to our entire existence!"
I gazed, open mouthed at these two poeple before me. I was the key to there entire existance? Me?
"I believe you are mistaken, sire. I am no ones key." I called to him.
"I am not mistaken!" The king snapped.
I nodded my head ath this, I didn't want to anger this guy. "Please, sire, can you at least explain to me why you believe me to be your key?"
The king nodded. "Very well. Prunella, tell the maiden."
The queen, Prunella, looked at me. She nodded. "Very well. You have noticed these windows, I take it?"
I nodded and she continued. "These winodws predict a time. A time when the gifted with rule over the humani. When we will take our rightful place back on top. Where we will rule. But, you. You, my dear girl, you are the key, to this entire profecy. You, fire, will be the one to wipe out allt he humani, and help use capture the lower gifted and control the world."
A my hand flew up to cover my mouth as Prunella ranted.
"You see child, this has to be done," The king said. "This is for the good of the humani. They are only destroying themselves and the world around them. They need to be put excecuted, for they are a threat to themselves. And with your saving powers, you will be the one to put the humani down, out of their misery."
My stomach was rolling. I was going to puke. They really thought that the humani were a threat!
I steeled my nerves, and my stomach, and looked the king in the eye. "And what if I don't want to?"
Purnella gasped. "Orpheus! Remeber your temper, and don't hurt the maid! We need her! She is the key!"
King Orpheus stared my down, neither one of us refusing to look away. "You will do as we say, or we will use force."
I barked out some laughter. "You think hurting me will make me do as you say? Over my dead body!" I yelled.
"Good ladies never raise their voices, and it's not you we plan to put throught torture." Orpheus smirked at me.
My arms went up in flames. "Who do you have." I said, deadly calm.
"Oooh!" Purnella crowed, "she does have the gift!"
Orpheus was still smirking at me. "And why would I ruin the surprise?"
I screach and chraged at the throne, but I was grabbed by a thick arm. I realized it was Demetry.
"No! Let me go! Let them go! S**t! Let them GO! B******s!!" I screamed as Demerty dragged me out of the grand room.
King Orpheus laughed as I let out a string of curses.
This was not over. No, this has just begun.
