ReformA Poem by glorygrace&goldabout being a female =PIt’s hard being a female. I think deep down most of us think so too.
There are certain problems and complications that we create alone for ourselves…
And somehow manage to make ourselves believe it’s because of everything else.
We, woman, have told ourselves that skinny doesn’t always equal pretty,
We have told ourselves that its what's inside that matters,
We have told ourselves that we are beautiful when looking at our reflections,
We have told ourselves that we love ourselves the way we are,
We have told ourselves that we’d never reform for the opposite sex or for anyone actually,
We have told ourselves that only we see our own flaws,
Yet nothing changes.
We may be the only ones who see them,
But it’s enough to make us believe them.
We can tell ourselves a thousand times how beautiful we are,
But we won’t believe it unless we did.
Saying things doesn’t make things magically happen.
Even telling each other we think we’re beautiful
Doesn’t make us change the way we think.
Only we can do it for ourselves
And it might not come wrapped up in a pretty present
But it will come.
When we’re ready to accept ourselves
It might not be the perfect moment.
But we’ll be waiting.
