Puppet

What should I do? Oh d****t, what should I do? They tell me to build my own future but they’re building mine too. Hey, what do I do?  they tell me what I should do. Because I’m told to obey but tell me to stand out like you. I don’t know what to say so they tell me how and what way. But they yell and they scream because I can’t find my dream. They turn me into a puppet. They tell me “listen and shut it”. They tell me to find my own voice but they won’t let me make my own choice. I don’t know what they want from me but I don’t care what they want--not anymore. Today I’m gonna do it for me, because none ‘them can see. That from now on I make up me—I’m gonna cut off the strings—and they’re gonna let me be me—and even at first if it stings. I’m breaking it off, I’m gonna find my own voice, because I know who I am.
And you, my friend, are not it.
