Wonder boy

Wonder boy

A Poem by Joseph LaBarge
"

waning into adulthood the boy genius fades into late night television and reality programing

"

Were are you now boy genius

Spewed from the bowels of American literature

Born of higher understanding

Plagued at birth to fade into epithets and yearning

Where are you now

You who waiting stood above all

Shaking the world with voice and song

Bleeding souls of knowledge wisdom and faith

Where have you gone

Have you at last succumbed to your generation?

Choosing childhood long waited

Where are you now

With your pretensions and intentions of being somebody

Will anybody do now

Tell me where are you now

Having survived the breaks and Foleys of an all to knowing world

Have they finally beaten you?

Stealing your youth and mind

Did they beat you

Or have you just given up
