Death of Hope

Death of Hope

A Poem by Joseph LaBarge

I've flown with the angels,
and crashed to the ground.
died with the fallen,
where graves could be found.

and I've been to heaven.
and bled on the floor.
cried for the people
asleep on the shore.

and though I've never known her,
I miss her tonight.
spoke to the angels, who said it alright.
'cause she walked her own road.
sang her own song.
now she flies with the angels,
where she belongs.

and I'd give up this moment
just to touch her hand
but i lay bleeding and broken
asleep on the sand

with a life full of memories
that all cause me pain
and i cry up to heaven
to wash them away

and I'd walk to the ocean
just to loose what I've found
go asleep on the bottom
where others have drown

for I've walked the long road
found my own way
so god save tomorrow
and forgive yesterday

Beautiful. Kind of bitter but moving.
