Easter BlessingA Poem by Natalie LozanoI was thinking of my mom who passed last year. And this poem poured right out of me.
Walking in the green grass. The wind stirs the flowers around me and the petals go flying in the breeze.
My cloak answers the wind as it swirls around me. I raise my face to the sun and feel the breeze.
As my bare feet relish the coolness of the grass. There up ahead a bright pink egg is hiding.
Putting it in my basket. I move on in search of more.
Then a little girl with a bright smile and dark eyes runs to me. Mommy mommy!!
Look I found a Yeyo one. She holds up a brightly colred Yellow egg.
Yes u did good job. Her smile makes me smile and my eyes hold back tears.
I look up “doesn’t she look lovely mom”. A ray of sunlight beams down on us and the wind stirs my daughter’s hair.
I know she sees us the nana in heaven. I grab my daughters hand and continue to look for eggs.
Smiling as tears roll down my cheeks. As I remember last year when my mom was still with us.
Then up ahead I find a garden of sweetpeas. And I hear “sweet peas for my sweet pea” on the wind.
Her nickname for her grandchild. Taking a picture of her amidst the flowers in every color.
Happy Easter mom! And I hear in a little voice beside me Happy Easter Nana!
Grabbing her in a fierce hug. I am reminded I’m blessed.
