a war raging inside

a war raging inside

A Poem by glitterinmymouth

freezing cold on the outside of my shell

flames melting, burning my inner world

my body a bridge leading from my soul to the outer world

a monster trapped inside me

tries to violently tear their way outside

at the end of the bridge lay the battlefield

beneath the greenery and dark green trees

not only a forest

a cemetery

dried blood melted into the earth

bones buried deep within the ground

weapons and rusty armour

buried soldiers

bones of brave horses

carriages

grenades

bombs

shell casings smothered

bullets clattered among the brown sandy ground

reminiscent of wild rice

brown and gleaming splatters

an expressionist’s painting

hidden away from curious eyes

only alive in the imagination of its corpses.

About
Most people...just look for ways to kill the pain. We live in a kill-the-pain society. TV kills the pain. Doctors prescribe drugs to kill the pain. Somehow I got into tuning into how I feel and trying.. more..
