sweet dreams

A Poem by Lydia Waldock

They say belief in your dreams
They say follow your dreams
How can I when my dreams are hard crashing spirits reliving mornings and nights of this life

In sleep, we speak to ourselves
In the night the real us comes to play
In our dreams, our nightmares never seem to cease

Uneasy feelings of unsafe
Panic minutes when you touch my skin
There never seems to be anything else other than dirt and gravel roads

With this in our selves
Even still with haunting nights
Your heart is at rest
You are loved
You are safe

Hold me close and cry into me
I’ll catch every bad day and nightmare
Rest easy
I’ve got you now

As someone who's had nightmares since as long as I can remember this poem really spoke to me. The ending was beautiful, and reminded me of how I had help dealing with the night terrors. Thank you.
