Focusing

Focusing

A Poem by Botania
"

.

"
Keep your eyes upon the sky
and a single blade of grass
Watch it grow so very slow
as through a looking glass.
The blueness lends the warmth of light
to the earthly sod
that celebrates the dawn of life
where casual feet may trod.
But down upon my knees I gaze
in a secret wonder
at all the things that life will bring
as God reveals His splendor!

i try to get my students to notice what is around them...their focus is so often on their text messages, cell phone calls, where they want to be in the next fifteen minutes, but never where they are...never watching a sunset and really absorbing the beauty of it...

william carlos williams' poem "red wheelbarrow" shows how a utilitarian object can possess beauty as he illuminates a scene with the rain glistening off the red wheelbarrow juxtaposed to the downy soft white feathers of the chicken...there is beauty in the most normal things.

nicely expressed here.
