Final Surrender

Final Surrender

A Poem by GlamGirl
"

Keep holding on...

"

“Come here, come here,

Closer, closer”

Their words like vines,

Snaking tendrils grasping my fleeing soul.

“Stay longer, stay longer,

Your time is not done”

Voices of gold ring in my ears,

Threatening every last ounce of faith.

“We need you, we need you,

Please come back”

My heartbeat surges,

Hands clenched tight.

I shall not go!

“It’s not over,

We’re not going away”

My body screams in pain,

Thrashing against these mental bindings.

“Break free,

You cannot.”

I will! I will!

Muscles cramping,

This interior hell has broken loose.

“You can’t stop now,

You’re one of us.”

I’m not! I’m not!

“Hand it over,

Keep going,

You’re almost there”

Another beaten up soul,

Another broken heart.

“Don’t give up now,

Join us, join us”

Last screams of life,

There’s nothing left.

I’m gone.

Taken.

“You are ours,

Another heartless shell”

Finished.

“Forget everything,

You can start over”

Given up.

I agree with SoulCrusader(Yas), This write has wonderful climax. And you didn't disappoint with the end-what a great way to end such a write. I really love the last stanza about the whole giving up thing. Most poems are about being really happy or really sad but this write was perfectly set in the grey zone. I enjoyed reading, keep up the great work!

Great read for those who feel that "Loss of Faith" taking play in there life. The FEEL feels almost the same. Now the question remaining is, "what about a follow-up that takes you through the process of RECOVER?"

A nice flow of thoughts to the poem. Allowing the reader to feel the desire and the pressure. A sad ending to a excellent poem.

Admit it, you've been defeated. Very good write. I like the whole theme. Admitting defeat is seldom written about. Nicely done...!
