You Were There

You Were There

A Poem by GlamGirl
"

Oh why?

"

You were there,

As a friend,

When I needed someone

To talk to.

You were there,

As a friend,

When I needed a smile

To cheer me up.

You were there,

As a friend,

To celebrate life

And to have a good time.

You were there,

As a friend,

When I needed a hug

After a long day.

You weren’t there,

As a stranger,

When I needed

You the most.

Now I ask you:

Oh why, my friend,

Oh why?

I wrote this a really long time ago, and I somehow missed it when I was putting old poems up.

Please comment on the last stanza: I used a variation of that ending in my poem 'Masterpiece'. I was wondering if it would still sound as good without the 'my friend'.

Thanks!

I like it! I've had a rough patch with my friend at the moment, but we are both now happy. It's strange how you can depend on someone so much. :')

A very strong poem. It is good to have friends who will stand with you. Scary when you must stand alone. A strong poem with a sad ending. Sometime friendship isn't perfect. Need always to be thankful and happy to have good friends in a life. A excellent poem.

True friends are avtars of God and as God is omnipresent friends are everywhere to find but when you need at a particular moment for a particular purpose it is difficult to find one. Vicissitude of life my friend. A great poem, you have rightly shown it here. It has a very deep philosophical angle.
