Time for Bed

Time for Bed

A Poem by Kaylee Guise
"

I wrote a rough draft of this as I was falling asleep one night with a cold. Enjoy!

"
It's completely dark in my room
Except for glowing amber numbers
On the digital clock beside me.

They read 9:55.

My ears are ringing, but beyond that,
I hear the howling whistle of
A distant train,
The gentle hum of cars and semis
On Interstate 43,
And my sister shuffling about while
Getting ready for bed.

An airplane roars overhead,
And I wonder where it's going.

I feel the NyQuil slowly settling
Into my system like a weight,
And soon,
I will drift,
Drift into a cumbersome snooze.
