From the Wreckage

From the Wreckage

A Poem by *Beautifully~Broken*
"

I live in Alabama, I was not personally affected by the recent tornado outbreak but friends and family of mine were and I've wrote this in honor of my state and how it is handling this horrid event.

"

From the Wreckage

All through the day

And all through the night

We hoped and we prayed

And we held each other tight

The sun rose on time

Despite that we thought it was an endless moon

As it rose above the horizon, we got our first glance

And in that early light we saw the wreckage

From the wreckage, we found mourning

For the storm had claimed many as its own

Tearing away those we love in a horrible wake

Leaving behind a heartbreaking distress

And from that wreckage, we found hope

In the days that followed

We slowly discovered the city beneath the rubble

And reveled that all was not lost

But from that wreckage, we found ourselves

We gave proof through the night, till downs early light

Showing that Ole American might

As we survived that endless night
