Promise Corner

Promise Corner

A Poem by girloverboard313
"

About my parents when I was younger

"
She sits in her room
Away from it all
The yelling and screaming
She still hears through the wall
The door is closed
And she's in the corner
She's scared, and she cries
There was nothing to warn her

He sits on his bed
Beer in his hand
Listens to her yell
And cry and demand
Eyes fixed on the screen
Watching his show
All he can do
Is wait for her to go

She's yelling and screaming
"For the kids and for me,
I wish you'd just stop!"
She wants back her family
She stands there and watches
Watches him waste away
She's sick of coming home
To this each and every day

She's crying by now
Hands over her ears
So she cant hear the yelling
And the floor hit by her tears
Then it all stops
She gets up from the floor
She walks closer, and ajar
She opens the door

He's still in his room
Bottles on the floor
Empty glass in his hand
And she's not yelling anymore
He hasn't moved once
Not even his eyes
And now from their room
He hears his wife's cries

She's on the couch, now
Wiping away her tears
She calls he daughter over
And tries to calm her fears
"Everything will be just fine,
Don't you worry dear."
She said, "It was just a fight.
Now, wipe away those tears"

Sitting with her mommy
The little girl's scared, still
"You and daddy will be okay.
Tell me that you will."
She's shedding tears
They just fall and break
"You're not getting divorced.
Please say you'll both stay?"

Her dad's still in his room
Now he's lying down
He listened to them talk and cry
Boy, he hates that sound
He knows that he should stop
He loves his kids and his wife
But it's not that easy for him
He's been drunk most of his life
"No, baby, we'll be fine."
She tells her little one
"Mommy's just mad at daddy,
He's having too much fun."
She doesn't want to be with him
When all he does is drink all night
She wants to be sure
Everything will be alright

Well, she lied
She promised she'd stay
Now she's gone
It's been days and days
She has no mother
He has no wife
She just walked
Walked right out of their life

WOW.
This is very deep, moving, emotional, and heart breakingly sad.
The ending, was extremely sad, but also a great way to end it.
I was picturing the whole story in my head, while reading this.
This piece was so moving and REAL!
Unfortunately, this happens to allot of family's, and kids.
Its even harder on the kids, not everyone's family is so perfect and put together.
So the people that have such a close perfect family, should be very grateful.
Great piece, sure allot of people can relate :)
