Journey

she always believed herself to be unworthy of being loved,
until he came from behind and lifted her off her feet.
Feeling weightless and her feet dirty battered with blisters and calluses,
from the long hard journey of her life gone by.
She could think of nothing more than the feeling of being a burden on his arms.

Turning to look at him, it was like staring into a mirror,
because in him she saw a memory of her struggles, her hardships, her heartbreaks,
her tribulations, her joy, and her love.
As she looked into his soul, she saw all of the steps that she had taken.
She saw all of the places where she fell and stood back up.

It was evident he had stepped into her footprints along his journey, and
he had stopped to lay down in the places where she once stumbled and fell.
Her journey had become his because he loved her so deeply that she became part of him,

In that moment, she realized that she was worthy of love, and loving.
She breathed him in, he breathed her in, 
She felt him, He felt her,
She let go, felt safe, and fell in love in his arms to sleep
