Knotty SoulsA Poem by NirmalaSome friendships have been tested by time, distance, absence for decades and survived and remained with intensity. This poem celebrates that amazing connection of human beings, not defined by logic.Knotty Souls
Eyes so
deep with gentle concentration Attractive
in colour yet escaping definition It seeks
and follows every movement Venturing
a chance to catch a moment To share
a few words, a smile or a touch High
voltage caused by slightest connection!
Strangers
in time with nothing to fend Nothing
to bind us, nothing to end Electrically
charged magnetised to attraction Drawn to
each other to the point of distraction Amused
by the constant force of the draw Were we
connected by something before?
Oceans
separated, politics cut connections Lives
progressed in opposite directions Memory
sharpened devoid of communication Attraction undimmed by lack of information Holding
without knowing the other had noticed Bonding
of the souls had already been established
Years
had their impact, the good and the bad But
silence and absence had not made us sad There
were no expectations in a link of that sort Demands
had no space when the souls had tied a knot
A decade
had gone by without sight or a line A
profound connection, without offering a sign
What is
this bond not controlled by demands Defying
the rules of social commands Not even
of voice or what photograph provides The link
was maintained despite all that divides We found
that the other was always succinct That we
contentedly went on, that love, oh so distinct! © 2012 Nirmala |
