ReponenA Chapter by Corey CoreysThe teacher who was making sure nothing occurred in my class of impatient test takers was a most fascinating man with a very intense stare...
We were under his ever-present gaze. He observed our behavior, our gestures, our existence. Many children had passed through his doorway, even more had passed under his gaze. Wars, bullets, peaces and other global events had also gotten the stare of this wise, elderly man. He was well respected here, in the place he had called home for more than two scores. Nothing passed him by, nothing slipped under his naval scope radar. His stoney eyes bore into us, getting to know us, to understand us. Most students looked away, too afraid, too ashamed, too guilty to let anyone in. But one girl watched him, knowing all to well that behind her freckled skin, she was not a perfect person, not by a long short. He saw everything about her. But he didn't say anything. He saw, but did not judge. He just observed and moved on.
