Blood Does Not BindA Poem by Corey CoreysHey people! This is an old piece I wrote around the last line. My parents are not divorced, but a lot of my friend's have divorced parents. I like the beat in this writing. Hope you all like it tooA man and a woman met They had passion Their hearts were on fire They could see only each other
A few months passed They got married in a little church Their passion ignited one night They brought another into this world
A baby and two parents They took care of her Their only daughter They raised her to be just like them
A man came in and stole the wife They tried to hide it Their left the husband oblivious They failed
A good thing ended They looked at each other Their world was upside down They entered the Land of No Return
A new fire consumed them They threw plates Their words blazed through the room They let everything out
A good thing was gone They signed papers Their things were divided up They were done
A decade passes They have moved on Their book have closed on that chapter They are new people
A girl has grown up They watch her walk across the stage Their eyes water as she smiled They know she is her own person now
A boy enters He is kind and spontaneous She is quiet and reserved Together they become friends
A single date He wants to be hers She wants to know him Together they hold hands
A year passed He wants to engage her She remembers what love did to her family Together they wait
A ponderous thought He loves her She is afraid of love Together they talk
A conversation ensues He listens She spills her story Together they mend the broken heart
A promise He would never stop loving her She accepts Together they engage
A score later He is a father and a lawyer She is a mother and a writer Together they have stayed
Blood may pulse But it doesn’t define who you are Parents may mold But they don’t shape your future
