Poem

A Poem by gingerfella

I lifted Leo to look into the open cupboard

“What are we going to have on our toast, eh?”

“That.”

I thought he was pointing at the mango jam

But he reached for the Value Marmalade.

I reached for the jar

as he said, “and that.”

Pointing clearly at french mustard

I paused

“No, we don’t have mustard on toast” putting him down

The toast popped and Leo ran to retrieve it

I had no idea what marmalade and mustard would taste like.
