How Dare You

How Dare You

A Poem by gina
"

This is a poem within a series of poems I wrote immediately after my mother passed away. The italicized lines are lines from other poets.

"

I was sure that I might have you
for so much longer
you broke my heart
as you got weaker
how dare you do
what the doctors expected
damn it...
how dare you consider
not being strong enough
to beat the odds
you were suppose to live
you were larger than life
not the other way around
damn it.
i am selfish now
wishing you had endured
wishing you got better
just to touch you
damn it!
could you not
have taken me with you?

Anything beyond, "that's nice, dear," would be welcome. What works, what doesn't work...

Thank you.

Is this written from experiance? Very good writing.

your poem slots into the top and tail lines seamlessly...and I was drawn in by the picture of clouds which seems fitting to the subject in retrospect. I like the idea of being annoyed at the departed. it is a valid manifestation of grief.
