When I Danced

When I Danced

A Poem by Gina

A regional dancer, I was

Different culture I danced

Long and red was my skirt

And white was my shirt

My friends and I danced

It felt like we were in France

Two braids I used to wear

But now I don't even dare

Last I would get on my steps

Just like trying to play chest

It was one of the best days

That in my ears the music still plays

A sweet and tender poem that leads me to thoughts of the same. I too write of the dance. Degas had the best gig ever, painting the dancers of the Paris Ballet.
All that athletic effort, and constant pain, all is hidden by the dancers' beauty of form, and skilful grace.
