The Artistry of NightA Poem by Gilad LevanonThe secrets of the spirits of the creatures of the night.
Ours is the artistry of night
We are those that work with darkness Our strength lies in lack of light We manipulate the inky blackness In darkness lies our lethal might Ours is the artistry of night Our first ally is the serpent With nature's potent venom He delivers a slithery strike Yet his motion is his true wisdom The motion of waves and all motions alike It is the symbol of how duality unites Ours is the tapestry of darkness We are those that work with shadow Our power lies in lack of starkness We make wide that which seems narrow In night-time lies our clearest cleverness Ours is the tapestry of darkness Second ally is the obsidian panther She materializes from the jungle As a predatory phantom from the ether Armed with a collection of evolution's finest blade She faces us in the moonlit glade Teaches us yellow-eyed vision of darkened energy Third is the poison-wielder Formed of blackest shadow She carries the burden as eternal widow Her wisdom lies in her shape and creation The balance of her figure The eighth number in the story of her nation And the web of her truthful lie Doth timely grab an enemy Whose time it is to surely die Last is first Our ultimate original teacher Mother of all our allies Clothed in the shadow of all our lies She is nature's darkest seeker Bearing the roll of darkest reacher With patience for power she shows us How to guide the darkness to reveal Its' truest light-filled nature thus Ours is the artistry of night
