The Self-Obscured Path

The Self-Obscured Path

A Poem by Gilad Levanon
"

A thought on the nature of choices.

"
Soon you will be faced with a choice,
You will reach a fork in your life's path,
It will be an opportunity,
In which you should rejoice,

It may not be clear,
The alternate path may obscured,
By leaves and dust that you threw over it,
When you were not yet ready to veer,

Soon you will be faced with a choice,
You will reach a fork in your life's path,
It will be a fleeting moment,
If you let it slip past,

You are used to taking,
The same path,
You are used to making,
The shame choice,
You are used to taking,
The easier path,
You are used to making,
The easier choice,
You are used to listening,
To your mind's voice,

Soon you will be faced with a choice,
You will reach a fork in your life's path,
It will be a showdown between your intuition,
And your nagging fear's voice,

If in the past, you've taken the path,
That has always been easiest,
Then you've probably noticed,
That this method has left you unsatisfied,
No matter how hard you've tried,

It may have even caused you pain,
It may have left you feeling guilty,
Angry or frustrated,
So you may have noticed,
It is a path offering little gain,

But even if you admit this,
Even if you accept that you need a change,
It may be difficult to notice,
The fork in the path that you have made so strange,

Try to pay attention,
To the moments when your mind tries to mention,
A piece of information,
Used to for the justification,
Of an action,
That your intuition,
Knows is an immoral execution,

Try to identify,
The path covered in leaves and dust,
The path obscured by years,
Of being ignored,
Obscured by years,
Of justifying yourself,

It will be a difficult decision,
Because the alternate,
Leads you into unfamiliar territory,
Without clear vision,
For the direction,
Of your life's story,

It may be a scare,
But I challenge you to dare,
To enter an exciting world with me,
An exciting world of limitless possibility,
A world of great responsibility,
Response-ability,
Filled with the ability to respond freely,
A world in which you are truly free...
