Holiday of a Lifetime

Holiday of a Lifetime

A Poem by Clarity
"

A solo holiday meant for two

"

I woke this morning to a fresh new day

To hear the birds singing a song so gay

The tropical sun feels so warm on my face

Today I’ll be wearing your pink dress of lace

I’ll be going for a walk, along the beach front

And later, to a luau, to watch a fire stunt

My heart is pounding, from all this attention

The guys here are charming - just thought I would mention

I wish you were here, instead of in hospital

Trying to be a stuntman, to do the impossible

Results in an arm and a leg in plaster

That’s what happens, what a disaster

But never you mind, I’ll have a drink for you

I’ll have the best time ever, it’s the least I can do

When I go dancing, I’ll pretend you are here

And when I meet someone, I’ll remember you’re there

Maybe the next time, we get a surprise

You won’t try to be a hero, under disguise

Instead, you’ll be careful, and watch what you do

Otherwise, I will holiday, again, without you
