A House With a View

A House With a View

A Poem by Clarity
"

Description of my home away from home

"

There it stood tall and bland

My brand new home - nothing grand

Drab and dreary - ghetto style

Square-block concrete, whitewashed walls

Central parking underneath

Downstairs wash-house for us all

Fourteen flats like prison cells

Such a sight to disdains plight

Outside steps with wide rimmed rails

Concrete maze to upstairs trail

Centre meeting - tables set

Tenants entertainment rest

One door only, one door out

Heaven forbid! safety shout

Threadbare flooring, peeling walls

Paint discoloured, cupboards worn

Then with joy the lounge I see

A million dollar view - free

That's a price I can afford

All my dreams come true - a score!

Such is quaint this five room flat

Single living not much said

Household storage taking room

But joy indeed, there's a view!

The ocean seen to the west

One grand mountain spreading east

River City set between

One lone mountain standing north!

So it is this home of mine

Poorly built - outside decline

A treasure found through it all

This house on a hill to view
