The Prisoners of warA Poem by emone emmanuelThe captives are victims of a betrayed trust
As soon as the battle called election began
The warlords began their word wars The wealth belongs to you but the throne will belong to us That is a gentleman`s agreement I guess Now the warlord is on the throne But the people I see on fate`s stool Power belongs to the people or to the king I guess The king`s power ought to be increased to serve you better he prayed Promises were broken as soon as thrones were gotten The warlords were as crafty as serpents But the folks were as trusting as little children For believing in such a gentleman`s agreement The shackles and ankles on them A testimony of their slavery caused by their folly Freedom were soon lost by power won For they were once his loyal subjects but now his lawful captives The free must fight for the freedom from tyranny For injustice done to one is injustice done to all And slavery anywhere is slavery everywhere Theories I guess or realities I speak. © 2013 emone emmanuel |
