Mistake

Mistake

A Poem by Gicel Livelo

And as I walked

Down the road

All of a sudden

I bumped into you

And slowly

You backed away

Looking like

You never knew

Who I was

And how we met

Under the gray sky

It was all a mistake

I love reading a short poem that ends up speaking more words to you than what you read, even after reading it. It's short but strong.
All mistakes can be turned into lessons. Though most would rather avoid these encounters. Coming face to face with your mistakes/lessons/past and handling it with grace is easier said than done. Most would rather back away and pretend it never happened or as if they don't remember to avoid any confrontation. Much like the character in your poem...
This poem also makes me think... Was it coincidental that you happened to bump into this person? Or could it have been a moment in life where you have to do just what I said earlier and confront your problem again? After the fact, after some time, face your past and see the difference in how you handle it now compared to when the wound was first opened.
That's only one of many thoughts that were sparked by your poem here. I really enjoy writing that makes me think deeper, in between the lines. This was one of them. Good work.
