prisoner of my mind

prisoner of my mind

A Poem by Nestor Gonzalez

nights that last an eternity,

perils that seem like infinity,

alone with my thoughts,

an internal battle is fought,

shadows of past ghosts linger,

wake with the sun/tear the skin off my fingers,

drank the tea until it became bitter,

i'm not scared yet i shiver,

all those memories/wish to forget,

all those moments/grew into regrets,

through the dark clouds traveled by day,

with shadows of past ghosts that refuse to fade
