An OutlawA Poem by Ghost An Outlaw Cold rain falling hard, washing out the dirt roads, As the lone cowboy who’s been living day to day - comes riding in, Chased by bandits and rogues as they are hot on his trail, They come from the south, the north, riding in from sunup to sundown. The saloon is filled with smoke that blurs the view, Here he stands with hat pulled low, hardened by his battles with time, Life has been tough for this saddle tramp, who rides alone, Tonight he stands at the bar waiting for a chance to make a bet. He lives by broken rules as he clutches the revolver on his side, Recalling how he has shot his way out of many battles, His whiskey temper and his reputation has forced him into a showdown, With his peacemaker in holster, he faces down the Texas Ranger. For him every day is just another gun fight, Tonight he rides out at a gallop, beneath the pale moon, And when the cowboy’s not looking, trouble comes his way, Now he has to put distance between the law and him, Riding fast, riding hard,he is on the run all because he won the draw, Tonight he pushes past death's door as he rides away an outlaw…. 6/20/2018 © 2018 GhostFeatured Review
