Prisoner of Her Mind

Prisoner of Her Mind

A Poem by Ghost

Prisoner of Her Mind

Acidic thoughts trapped in the silhouette of darkness,

Can't breathe - she gasps as if she is suffocating,

Tears, she tries to hold in as she cries silently,

Struggling with internal conflict, her freedom lost to anxiety.

She is held hostage, with no escape from the sleepless nights,

Tormented by years of pain, her mind never finds peace, never rests,

Depression is the demon lurking within her fears - consuming her,

It locks her away within the penitentiary of her pain, her sadness.

Reality to her merely exists, lingering within the loneliness of her life,

No will to fight or flee - resigned to the confinement of her brokenness,

Falling deeper and deeper into the tragic downfall and demise of her soul,

Her consciousness feels like it is shattered into shards of jagged pieces.

The innocence of the little girl who resides within her has wasted away,

Every day she feels she does nothing right, says nothing right - every day she feels ashamed,

Donning her mask with a fake smile she gives an illusion of happiness,

But from the metal bars, she sees no hope of leaving the cell holding her prisoner of her mind....
