Seasons

Seasons

A Poem by Ghost

Seasons

Spring comes to life as the flowers pop with a rainbow of colors, where the trees bloom to life,

And the days start to get longer, start to get warmer as the scent of lilac dances upon the breeze,

The birds will sing, the bees will buzz, the awakened sun will peek out from behind the clouds,

Unless you live in Ohio where Mother Nature plays practical jokes with leftover snowflakes.

Summer is a time for swimming, a time for fun - summer with the smell of fresh cut grass,

Star filled nights and sunrays kissing bare skin, where the days get longer, the nights get shorter,

A time for barbecues and cold beer, it’s hot days and lemonade, it’s birds singing and children playing,

It's clean air, blue skies, state fairs and fireworks in the dark, summer a time for being outdoors.

Fall or Autumn with its flurry of leaves floating to the ground - pooled in piles of rebellious colors,

As the winds share a cool chilly bite, and the birds have flown south before the transition of colder weather,

Let’s not forget about the pumpkin patches and the apple cider, where the acorns drop from weary trees,

There will be earthy scented mornings teasing my senses, leaving me spellbound by the aroma of burning wood.

Winter will steal my breath away with its bitter cold icy fingers, consuming me in its frigid blast,

Days become filled with gray and the hills are adorned in glittering, shimmering white snow,

The dead heavy branches hang low in silent shame, restless in the harsh, unapologetic weather,

I will stand sadly by the window dreading Jack Frost nipping as I step outside into winter....

Oh I love all the different seasons for their own special beauty they bring- but summer when I feel the warmth of the sun kissing my exposed skin is heaven sent- a tan makes us feel so good and the knowing of the beauty of sunrise and sunset where I chase time to get that beautiful photo- what beauty surrounds us- we need to look and see- but across- I love and the crackling fires of winter and that smell- takes me back to many childhood memories- but the colours of the beauty of new blooming flowers - the excitement of waiting for them to bloom excites my heart like a child with a new toy- there are beautiful flowers about to open in the park here in Chelmsford that I have my eye on- yes what a beautiful gift we have been given in the seasons- there’s a season and a reason for everything and everyone under the heavens above- wonderful words like always🌹I love reading your words🌹

Nice piece. You are so lucky experiencing such blessings in every season. Here in the Philippines, we have only 2 seasons : rainy and summer, but we are so thankful still of what we have.

Lovely! I love how vivid your picture are of bountiful nature. Your' words are the brush and they've created the perfect image of each season. Spring is life, summer is fresh, autumn is rich, winter takes breath. Amazing. Great read, my friend.

Thank you for reading and for the nice comment... I am honored so many like this poem..
The world turns and seasons change, and each season has its own characteristics which you've clearly shown. Spring is like a renewel not only of season but of mind. Thos colorful flowers and warmer weather offer more time outdoors and away from the hibernation of those indoor blah feelings.

Summer is for more interaction and those cool pools and beaches. And yet, for the autumn fans(of which I am) those colors that sit on trees like a painters pallet are wonderful to look at.

When winter finally recycles itself back to the air with frost and snow, the cold must again be dealt with. But the promise of the coming spring will always be there.

You've written a fine poem that represents each season appropriately. Nice job.

This poem is a lovely panorama, a kaleidoscope of Nature’s manifestations within each season. Eloquent, free-flowing with vivid, breathtaking imagery- each season showcased excellently. Four artist’s palettes presented delightfully. Love this!

This is so utterly ENJOYABLE! It is a feast for the senses, and a brilliant use of clear and simple language that doesn't slow down the trip through an entire year in the American mid-west. It took my breath away with joy, ACTUALLY!

Hey what a delight to come across this literary tribute to each of the four seasons, and so early in the day..... Do remember tho, expectation and anticipation are not necessarily absolute certainties... think positively and maybe, just maybe those icy chills you expect shall be more a warm caress....... try for a smiley day....Neville
