![]() AutumnA Poem by Ghost Autumn In
the crisp clean air, a soft chill cuts through you, As
you see the skies turning gray and the days getting shorter, The
multi-color leaves have fallen and rest upon the damp ground, The
silence is broken by the crunch as they die under foot, Occasionally
upon the breeze, you can smell burning dried leaves. Everywhere
you look you’re surrounded by the lifeless solitude of the trees. It
is a time for sitting around a fire, with hot apple cider for warmth, And
dried roasted seeds from pumpkins with their carved out faces anticipating
Halloween, Hear
the laughter of children and adults scurrying about for trick or treat, It
is a time for fun, a time for hayrides and for haunted houses. It
is a season of enjoyment as you find your way through a labyrinth of corn
mazes, Welcome
the memories of families enjoying Thanksgiving dinner together, Take
in the aromas of the warm delicious pies, of the turkey and all the trimmings, After
walking hand in hand, we return home, where I wrap you in a heavy blanket, The
day turns to a quiet calm night for lovers - the inspiration painting a poet's
words. Somewhere a clock
ticks in the moment as fall passes and winter prevails, Soon it will be time
for the caress of winter's tiny snowflakes of white, A time for mittens,
coats and scarfs, a time to witness the steam of a cold breath, And everyone will be
anxious for winter to pass, waiting for the return of autumn.... 3/23/2018 © 2018 GhostFeatured Review
