My Kryptonite

My Kryptonite

A Poem by Ghost

My Kryptonite

We all have a weakness to something, Superman’s is a green rock,

Wonder Woman's weakness is man tying her up or binding her bracelets,

Batman is human - that is his strength, his weakness - the downfall is he can be hurt,

And just like Batman, the Flash is also human, and without his speed, he can also be defeated.

I know they are only imaginary super heroes to the young and old alike,

Like them - you have a weakness, I have a weakness and so does everyone around,

You see, no-one gets to choose who lives or dies - that isn't our choice to make,

And we all live with regrets; we have bad experiences and memories we wish to forget.

I know I can't be your hero, but there was a time I was your superman,

Who used to come to your rescue, who used to be your safety, your protection,

You let me fight your insecurities and rescue you from the corruption of your mind,

I broke thru your negative thoughts to become your temporary hero.

But now your miles apart from me and I feel myself growing weaker and weaker,

You’re not there to live inside of me, to be my Louis Lane, to be my strength,

Yes, I know I am a mere mortal and that life will always be a struggle,

That time and distance will become an ally and will prove that I too have flaws,

And if given a chance to peer into your green eyes - you will be my kryptonite....
